I believe in the power of the spoken word. It is as creative as our thoughts.
I am privileged to have married into a family with a history of long marriages. My parents-in-law were married for 63 years when my father in law passed away. I made an effort to watch and listen to them. In the time that I knew him, I never heard one unkind word come from my father-in-law’s mouth towards his wife.
There was always a please and a thank you. My mother-in-law is always humming even when she is kind of stressed. It is as if that calms her and everyone around her. It is a joyous and uplifting sound.
It is difficult to stay in a negative space when we are around people who use kind words. We don’t have to change the world to make a difference. We only have to watch what goes on between our ears and what comes out of our mouths. Both is a choice.
